I´ll try to keep a shoot diary of this one if I can…
“Historias de la Urbe” (Urban Stories) is a feature film I had the pleasure to 1st AD in Miami during Spring 2010. So proud to announce its many awards and official selections:

The challenging thing of shooting over a frozen lake:
This is actually the first time I had that much time of pre-production (3 weeks!!). Of course, not all that time was paid (but 2 days of prep for a low budget movie is not that bad either).
First of all, I attended the Script Meeting at the Production Office, along with the 1st AD, DP, Director and Producers. We went page per page discussing the issues that may appear during the shoot and also I was asking all my questions about the days of the story and checking with the Director if my assumptions were right.
At the end of it, even the Director said it was extremely helpful for her and also for the rest of the crew. For me, it was great to clearly know the division of the story and how to make a timeline for the rest the departments to follow.
I was able to make a detailed breakdown scene by scene, and also the page count and the pre-timing of the whole script.
After this meeting, we had a Production Meeting with all the Department´s Keys and I even was able to attend the Table Read with the actors, which helped me a lot with my pre-timing and the intensity or pace of the scenes.
One more day and we´ll start shooting. Let´s see how it goes!
I´ll try to keep a shoot diary of this one if I can…
